Detailed engineering, in principle, is detailed design and other technological documentation that allows for the manufacture, testing, and operation of a product or complex.

Detailed engineering of components and assemblies is developed taking into account the customer's requirements and expectations. A conceptual design is developed, and after the design is approved by the customer, strength or other required calculations are performed. Next, the detailed design is developed down to the level of design drawings. If necessary, a product data sheet is developed.

Detailed systems engineering involves the complete design of a complex, allowing for its manufacture, installation, and commissioning.

Detailed engineering is a large body of work that may involve multiple participants under the guidance and control of the system integrator.

Such participants are:

  • project team of the supplier-integrator of the complex
  • a licensed design bureau for the development and execution of design and working documentation in accordance with current legislation
  • engineering offices for performing specific tasks on mechanical and electrical equipment
  • suppliers of equipment components for calculations and manufacturing of equipment components in accordance with the technical specifications

In 100% of cases, the system integrator cannot and should not perform all detailed design work solely on its own. The system integrator's primary responsibility is to ensure the professional integration of all participants.
